Ever since middle school, I have always stressed the importance of a good first day outfit. As the saying goes, one must “dress to impress.” I’m not sure how relevant this statement is in relation to my current clothing philosophy…but it was significant at one point. Although I dress for myself more than I do for others, it’s always nice to feel impeccably dressed and make a fashion statement.
The look that I went for today: Chic and Sophisticated. I wanted to coordinate an outfit that was dressy, but still wearable for class. Opting for one of my signature cardigans, I knew I wanted to wear a super feminine top (hence the ruffles) and a skirt that was just as classy. Despite my love for attention-getting accessories, today I wanted to keep it simple. A gold locket necklace that I received for Easter years ago was exactly what I needed.

Oh, what a pretty skirt! I love Club Monaco! If I’m in NYC, you can bet that I will visit one (actually, make that 3!) Club Monaco stores. On my most recent visit to NYC, I bought this incredibly gorgeous skirt. The sheen of the fabric and intricate brocade design are really quite alluring. I simply could not pass it up. Originally priced $138, I got it for $19!
Shoes by Coach - Whenever I’m looking for a classy pair of shoes, I always flock to this one. The gold tips are really snazzy, instantly adding oomph to a boring ensemble. Black and gold, they look superb when worn with my new handbag and accompanying gold jewelry.
It goes without saying that I love my pearls. This mega-sized pearl ring from Forever 21 ($3.80!) is no exception. Lately this has been my go-to ring. It matches nearly everything and instantly dresses up an ensemble. In case you’re wondering, that lovely shade of nail polish that I’m wearing is Revlon’s Limited Edition Turquoise Tango. If you’re looking for a pop of color, it’s a must.
Love at first sight. Here’s the newest addition to my collection of handbags. While Coach bags these days seem to be either hit or miss, this one is a winner. Off-white with accents of gold, it’s super conventional and roomy enough to fit all my stuff (believe me, that’s really saying something).
I got this bangle from my favorite jewelry store, Earrings Plaza, in NYC. Only $4 (regular price!), it’s such a steal. The gaudiness of the gold when set against the black makes for a fabulous statement.
What do you think of my outfit?
