Outfits That Make You Happy

I completely blame my lack of blogging lately on a thing called college. Four weeks in and I’m already swamped. While I love being busy and constantly under pressure, the downside is that I have less time to blog. (Such a bummer, I know!) In need of a serious break from school work, I figured that now would be the perfect time to share one of my recent outfits.

Day in, day out, we coordinate ensembles that reflect our current moods. Some days we gravitate toward a specific color, on others we decide to dress girly or bohemian or preppy or edgy. Although we essentially love (or at least like) every outfit that we so thoughtfully put together, there are some that make us feel especially happy.

One of my latest outfit successes (featured below) was spot-on in conveying my girly and feminine style. As I’ve said so many times before, nothing puts a smile on my face quicker than a cardigan, skirt and oxfords. Throw in a strand of pearls, a headband and anything floral and you’ve just made my day! Unlike some outfits that I spontaneously throw together, this one worked from the get-go. With no second thoughts, I knew that it was a winner! If there’s one thing that I’ve learned from styling ensembles all these years, it’s that when an outfit feels right, go with it.

Cardigan from J.Crew, lace camisole from Banana Republic, skirt by Michael Stars

Remember when I blogged about how excited I was to get this J.Crew cardigan with a Liberty of London print. (I do!) Now that I have officially worn it, I can tell you what I think. I give it: five thumbs up for its impeccable fit, beautiful silk floral design and lovely color palette. With shades of blue, purple and olive, it works well with a number of ensembles. Next up, I want to pair my cardi with a purple top, skinny leg jeans and boots.

This is one of my favorite skirts. In a deep (very fall-appropriate), shade of purple, it matches nearly everything. Airy, light and by my favorite t-shirt company, (Michael Stars), it never gets old. Although I have a closet full of skirts, this is one that I can wear over-and-over again.

Oxfords by Eryn Brinie

This pair of oxfords has a special place in my heart. Prior to purchasing them, I remember having the biggest obsession with oxfords. With a closet full of ballet flats and heels at the time, I was dying for sophisticated shoes with a European flair. Bottom Line: The military green is a nice alternative to the typical black, brown or white that you so often see oxfords in. Super feminine, they never fail to impress.

Headband from J.Crew, ring from Earrings Plaza, pearl necklace

Photographing accessories on my windowsill has become kind of a tradition lately. Everything just looks so much more alluring when it’s set against a picturesque backdrop.
