Oh, how time flies. It seems just like yesterday I was finishing up with my final exams…and now I’m down to my last days of winter break. Sigh. As professors e-mail about class syllabi being available online, all I can think is, “I don’t want to go back!” One more week off and I’d be a happy lady. Pinteresting for endless hours, sleeping in, catching up with Gossip Girl, blogging (of course!), and reading my fashion magazines are things that will be missed come next week.
Despite the displeasure that I’m currently feeling toward school, I do want to share my thoughts on some outfits from Free People that are inspiring me lots! With my style being an amalgamation of all things girly, ultra-feminine, sophisticated and quirky, I constantly find myself attracted to Free People. I appreciate the brand’s creative vision and ability to design clothes that are one-of-a-kind.
That being said, here are eight outfits that have caught my attention lately. Enjoy!
1. Sequin Cropped Pullover – What girl doesn’t want to add a little extra sparkle to her wardrobe? Maybe it’s just me, but I love sequins! (So much so, that I have an entire board on Pinterest devoted to it!) In addition to wearing sequins on NYE and other nighttime functions, wear it during the day! Whether you wear this sequin pullover with jeans or a pretty skirt, you’re sure to make a statement.
2. Corduroy Cutoff Shorts – In my book, wearing shorts in the winter (with tights of course!) is a major DO! This pair of red corduroy shorts is so cute. Add in a comfy flannel shirt, your coolest wrap sweater, a pair of riding boots and you’re all set!
3. Midnight Train Mesh Skirt – A picture-perfect bohemian ensemble that couldn’t be more flawless! My favorite part is the floral blouse, which adds just the right amount of femininity. In a season of frigid temperatures, I’m all for layering. Oversized cardigans, maxi skirts and lace-up boots…yes, please!
4. Denim Cutoff Shorts – A monochromatic ensemble - why didn’t I think of this! With mismatch prints and bold color being huge trends these past few seasons, I’ve overlooked the obvious. I’m utterly impressed with how gorgeous shades of jade can be when worn together.
5. Micro Tap Pant – There are some outfits that I fall for at first glance - this is one of them! While semi-sheer, silky shorts may not be winter-appropriate, I do think they have potential come spring. Whether you pair it with a sharp black blazer or a long cardigan and ballet flats, the result will be equally chic!
6. Lacy Layering Skort – Tough and edgy is one look that I can’t seem to master. When I saw this ensemble consisting of a black skort, laidback tee and stacked cuffs, I knew that I wanted to emulate it. While the lace detailing found in the top and skirt is feminine, the assortment of gold, copper and silver jewelry adds much toughness. For me, a little edgy goes a long way!
7. Floral High Waist Pencil – The combination of floral and lace is simply divine. Not to mention how practical a pencil skirt is. Thanks to its conservative length, this skirt can be worn to class, work, or a dinner date. A vintage locket or equally special necklace would be the perfect finishing touch.
8. One Shredded Chiffon Mini – Two words: classy and fabulous. This entire outfit (minus the hat) is so me. I’m a sucker for anything frilly; whether that be layers of lace, chiffon, or tulle. Complete with chic ballet flats and a chain purse, this outfit is the crème de la crème. What is there not to love?
